Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places?

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

By Terry Hernon MacDonald Youve hung out in bars, youve answered the personals, youve maxed out the plastic trolling online dating sites, and you still havent met the right person. Or, youve ended up dating a series of potential perfect matches, only to be disappointed. Why are your friends able to hook up, but youre always left high and dry? Have all the good single people slid off the Earth? Listen, if you continually date people who suddenly stop calling, who turn out to have some type of social tic like complaining incessantly or being mean to waiters, who never stop talking about themselves, who are incapable of telling the truth, you have a problem. And the problem is you. Yes, you. If you want to attract a good, fun, and genuine person who will love you and make you happy, then you must love yourself and make yourself happy first. If you usually end up dating losers, you are clearly short in the self-love department. You see, according to the Law of Attraction, like attracts like. So if you dont love yourself adequately, you will attract people who hurt or disappoint you. Always. Think this is a bunch of hooey, do you? Well, give it a chance and your life will change. I want you to go to the bathroom right now, go to the mirror and look yourself in the eye, and say, “I approve of myself. Say, I love myself unconditionally. Oooh, doesnt that feel weird? Doesnt it feel creepy? Of course it does. Most of us havent been raised to love and approve of ourselves. We have no problem looking in the mirror and telling ourselves that we’re hopelessly bald or that our stomachs jiggle. Self-hatred is perfectly acceptable. Looking in the mirror and saying, I approve of myself, and I love myself unconditionally is weird. And scary. But I want you to keep it up. I want you to get behind the wheel of your car tomorrow, and instead of speed dialing some chum while youre flying down the parkway, say I approve of myself out loud again and again and again. Say it one thousand times. Say it at home while youre doing the laundry. Say it when youre cooking dinner (or peeling it out of a paper bag). After a couple of weeks, your subconscious will accept the fact that you truly love and approve of yourself. And guess what? You will attract better friends, better jobs, better circumstances, and yes, much better dates. Your posture will improve, too. You will find that you attract people who are more reliable and less neurotic. Good single people will seem to come out of the woodwork. You will not have to work so hard to get a second date or to maintain a relationship. People will want to be with you because you feel good about yourself. Self-love attracts love like a magnet. Go for it. Terry Hernon MacDonald is the author of “How to Attract and Marry the Man of Your Dreams.” Visit her website at http://www.marrysmart.com . Weight Loss: You Are What You Think!

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

By Ray Kelly Most of us know and have heard the phrase, You are what you eat. However, is it possible that another phrase also applies? You are what you THINK. Yes, it is very possible that this phrase is also an accurate representation of how our perceptions and expectations affect our body and overall health. We are just beginning to understand how the mind and our beliefs affect out body and how it responds to illness. However there is currently enough documented evidence to prove that the mind does in fact affect our body. The key behind all of these studies seems to be perception or expectation. Those individuals with positive perceptions of an event and positive expectations seem to create that reality while the same seems to be true of those with negative perceptions and expectations. If we allow for this possibility then we must consider what it is we believe about ourselves and how we feel about the life we are leading. If we have a perception of ourselves and our life that is negative then it will tend to manifest itself eventually in one way or another. This often takes place with people who are unhappy with their life but yet afraid to make changes. When they do not take action the body itself seems to create an illness to bring about the change they seemed unable to do for themselves. Deepak Chopra has spent numerous years studying this aspect of wellness and I highly recommend that anyone wanting to explore this field of research read his books. The book I have found most helpful is Unconditional Life. He gives many case studies of individuals who were affected either positively or negatively by their state of mind and the perceptions they had of their illness. We owe to ourselves to be happy and to be hopeful and to expect the best out of life. We owe it to ourselves to make the most of the time we are given. We owe it to ourselves to do the things that we fear and take the steps we are afraid to take. Life is about expansion and when we cease to expand we become stagnant and stagnation eventually brings about death. This usually happens in the inner life first and then it manifests in the physical life. For example, someone begins to feel bored, apathetic and depressed about life and this will lead to a withdrawal from contact with other people and then soon thereafter the body itself will begin to manifest symptoms. You must choose to be happy and to expect the best and to believe in miracles. A favorite quote is the following: “Happiness is a way of travel - not a destination” –Roy M. Goodman This is something you should definitely keep in mind not only for the sake of your health but also for your entire experience of life. If you do not like your experience of life then perhaps it is time to change your point of view. Ray Kelly is an Exercise Scientist with 15 years experience in the health and fitness industry. Organising your Wedding Stationery

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

By Claire Bowes Of all the things you need to do, buy and organize in preparation for your wedding, wedding stationery is something that must be planned ahead. After all, you need to let your guests know well in advance of your forthcoming big day. Your wedding invitation and accessories set the tone for your special day firmly establishing your style and taste. It is the first official message about your wedding that a guest will receive from you, so make it special. If wedding etiquette is important to you, then make a start with your wedding stationery. The Use of the Internet The Internet has opened up new avenues for anyone planning a wedding. All your research can literally be done online and this also applies to finding your stationery items. There are hundreds of online stationery and wedding related websites that display all types of wedding invitations and accessories for you to choose from. Today many brides do their wedding research online as you can become quickly informed of the latest trends and new products available. You can either buy your wedding stationery directly over the Internet, or collect ideas and samples and take these to your local stationery store to implement. Most online stores actually send you a sample in the post to let you look and feel the stationery items before you purchase them. Custom Stationery Every bride wants her wedding to be as unique as can be. A good place to start is with custom wedding stationery. The great advantage with custom stationery is that you can enter your own wording, select the typeface, text size and color. No matter what theme you have set for your wedding, you will surely be able to customize your stationery to compliment the tone. Wedding invitations and accessories can be bought in various styles such as classic, contemporary, floral, embossed, layered and religious. On a Budget? If youre on a budget and looking for cheaper wedding stationery items, then you might like to consider print-at-home wedding invitations. Save money and impress your guests when you personalize and print your wedding invitations at home using free online services that are available from some major online stationery stores. You pay for the paper and envelopes and then use their software to print directly from your own PC. With sophisticated customization tools, you’ll be able to enter your text, tweak it, preview it, and print it. No mistakes, no hassles, no wasted cards and its cheap! Choose a Theme The theme of your stationery should coincide with the overall theme of your wedding. For example, if you are having a garden wedding then you may choose to have a floral print on your stationery items. There are many accessory items available to help you tie your stationery in with the theme of your wedding. For example, ribbons, hearts, rings, white doves etc.. The same applies to the color of your invitations. This is normally decided upon by the color of your bridesmaids dresses. Stationery Items You would be surprised at how many wedding stationery items there are. While your wedding invitation is the most prominent item of stationery, you can find complimentary stationery accessories to match your wedding invitations:- Wedding Invitations Wedding Programs Announcements Engagement Announcements & Invitations Save-the-Date Cards Rehearsal Dinner Invitations Bridal Shower Invitations Wedding Accessories (menu cards, thank you notes etc..) Plan Head Your wedding invitation is the first official message about your wedding and your guests need to know about their invite in plenty of time. Here is a checklist to help you plan ahead and be organised:- Double-check that the wording in your invitation is correct. Ask a friend or family member to also look through the invitation for you; Order your invitations as soon as your date, time and place have been confirmed. Three to six months before the ceremony is what most expert planners suggest; To calculate the number of invitations to order remember to count one invitation per single guest, couple and family; After calculating the number of invitations add approximately 25 invitations to your order: 10-12 more for keepsakes, plus extras for the last-minute guests. Also, depending on how large your order is, add 25 to 50 additional envelopes in case of mistakes in addressing; Most established wedding planners agree that you should plan to mail your invitations six weeks before the wedding. This gives the quest plenty of time to respond; Make sure you have one completely assembled invitation weighed at the post office to determine the correct postage. Wedding invitations set the tone for your wedding and tell your guests what type of style and theme you have chosen for your wedding. Summary Dont underestimate the important of your wedding stationery. It sets the tone and style of your wedding and portrays the image you want to set. Wedding stationery should tie in with the overall theme of your wedding. Invitations and announcements can be bought on a budget by using specialty software to print from your PC. Thinking of Dropping Out of College?

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

By Michael Carter If rising tuition costs or personal concerns have made you consider dropping out of college or taking a break Id like to encourage you to reconsider. Dont Let Cost Stand in Your Way If cost is your primary reason for reducing your college hours or dropping out completely first pay a visit to your schools financial aid office. Have you applied for financial aid using the FAFSA? Priority deadlines for most colleges is late spring to early summer. However, most of the time students can still get some kind of financial aid as long as you apply before the school term begins. Another reason for visiting the financial aid office is there may be other sources of aid available to you that you are not aware of. Some colleges participate in state funded financial aid programs and special need based programs that you may qualify for. Your financial aid counselor can give you more information about alternative programs such as these. In addition, the financial aid office may be aware of local foundation and organization sponsored scholarships. In some colleges the financial aid office also handles scholarships. Other schools run a separate scholarship office. Either way, make sure you apply for all of the scholarships offered at your school. Many local social organizations such as the Lions Club, Business & Professional Women and Chamber of Commerce sponsor scholarships. Get out your local phone book and start calling organizations in your area. You may be surprised at what type of local scholarships may be available. Consider College an Investment in Yourself According to U.S. Census Bureau statistics, people with a bachelor’s degree earn over 70 percent more on average than those with only a high school diploma. Over a lifetime, this will make a considerable difference in overall earnings, standard of living and retirement savings. The power of a bachelors degree becomes even more apparent when seeking employment. Applicants with a degree are much more likely to be hired for a position than those without a degree. Specialized study in college prepares workers for a job field or industry. A general or liberal arts degree will help workers gain employment in a wide range of fields. Often your college major is not as important as just the fact that you have the degree. Finally, college is a time to explore your interests, talents and grow as a person. The experience you gain working with other students and professors will help you mature and be ready for not just the job market, but for deeper life experiences. Health Benefits Of Rice

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

By Stewart Hare Rice (Oryza Sativa) has been used as a food for centuries; in fact it has been used for 6,000 years in China. Rice is the staple food in many Asian countries and China, Vietnam and Thailand are now major exporters of rice. There are over 8000 varieties of rice, they are generally categorised as short grain, medium grain or long grain rice. Brown rice tends to be the whole grain of rice with only the outer husk removed whilst white rice is milled and polished. Brown rice is more nutrient rich and is better for you than white rice which has had the bran and germ removed in the milling process. Popular varieties of rice are Arborio, Basmati, Sweet rice and Jasmine rice. Brown rice has many beneficial health nutrients in it, it is best to eat brown rice rather than white because a majority of the nutrients within white rice have been destroyed in the milling and polishing process. Brown rice contains manganese which is great for energy and antioxidant protection, phytonutrients with anti-cancer properties which can protect against heart disease, magnesium which can help to protect against and reduce the symptoms of asthma, migraine headaches, heart attack, stroke and high blood pressure. The fibre content of brown rice can help to protect against and reduce the symptoms of atherosclerosis, colon cancer, constipation, diarrhoea and gallstones. Could Unresolved Emotional Issues be the Reason Your Dieting Attempts Always Fail?

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

By Wayne Ennis Have you tried to loose weight and failed?Do you find it impossible to stick to a diet plan? What if I told you that a recent exciting medical discovery has found the reason some people are overweight is due to unresolved emotional issues? If we are being honest most people are overweight because they eat too much and do not do enough exercise. It is only for less than 1% of the population that their weight problem is due to a thyroid or glandular problem. For the other 99% of the population their weight problems are simply down to overeating and a lack of exercise. However it is too simplistic and easy to just tell somebody they are overweight because they eat too much. If people are fat because they overeat then should we not be looking for the reasons as to why people overeat? I make’s perfect sense that if we fix the reasons that cause people to overeat then they would be able to loose weight more easily. Does any of the following apply to you? - I eat to comfort myself. - I sometimes even when I am not hungry.- I eat when I am depressed or lonely. - Eating makes me feel better. - I eat when I am stressed.- I sometimes reward myself by eating.- After an argument with my partner I eat to console myself. - I sometimes eat to punish myself.- When the children play up I reach for the snacks.- When I am under stress I crave sweet things The above are just a few examples of emotional or comfort eating. Unless you resolve these issues then you will struggle to achieve your ideal weight and you will never be able stay slim. Dieting may work for a short while but as soon as your emotional issues re-appear you are going to be back to comfort eating. Your weight loss or gain will be decided by what is happening in your life emotionally. The problem most people have is that they do not realise that this emotional eating is going on. They don’t realise that every time they feel stressed they reach for some chocolate or every time they fight with their spouse they reach for the biscuit cupboard afterwards. Emotional eating affects men, woman and children. Some people do realise that they comfort eat but they don’t know how they can deal with it effectively. So how do we deal with our emotional eating? Naturally we could try good old willpower but for most people this will be too hard. We could also try therapy but that could take months or years to resolve your issues. So what is the answer? There is a new treatment available that helps in dealing with your emotional issues. This treatment is known as Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT for short. EFT has its basis in psychology and Chinese acupuncture. However instead of using needles you simply tap on certain designated meridian points on your upper body. Whilst you are doing the tapping you tune in/think about the problems you have. You simply tap your problems away. I know for a lot of people the idea of tapping your problems away will seem a ridiculous concept but the results back up the claims. EFT has helped thousands of people loose weight. EFT makes weight loss easy. EFT is also perfect for addictions. Again you simply tap your addictions away. So if you are addicted to chocolate or cream cakes use EFT and tap your addiction away. Naturally EFT will not make you loose weight overnight. You did not become overweight overnight. It was gradual process due to your overeating. So when you try to loose weight you have to be patient. It can be very dangerous if you loose the weight too quickly. One of the great things about EFT is that sessions can be done over the phone or Internet. Your EFT specialist will tell you where to tap and what to say. Being able to do EFT sessions over the telephone and Internet means it is perfect for seriously overweight people who have mobility difficulties or people with agoraphobia. I know for some for you reading this article all of this must be a little bit hard to take in but what if I told that not only is EFT perfect for weight loss it is perfect for nearly every emotional and physical issue you can name? EFT often works where all else has failed and often works where conventional medicine has no answers. It has been known to work for all sorts of issues such as anorexia, bulimia, self harming, depression, phobias, allergies, anger, panic attacks, stopping smoking, asthma, shingles, OCD, trauma, high blood pressure and so much more. So if you are struggling to loose weight then what emotional issues do you have? Wayne Ennis is an EFT specialist and can help with all sorts of medical, physical and emotional issues. The Anchor Holds, Tho the Sails are Torn

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

By Anthony Smith Matthew 8:24-26. And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. The Anchor held in the midst of the storm, the Sails of Faith, were torn and nothing would do except Faith in the Saviour. There is a tempest in all of our lives one day or another. A Tempest so large we believe that we are to perish in the waves and wind. We all have been there, a death, a lost opportunity, financial ruin, disease, sickness running rampant in our body or our family. But Remember that the Anchor Holds in the Midst of all storms. Lets read Psalms 89:9, Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them. In 1999, I was pronounced dead of a massive heart attack. My wife, Juanita, Daughter, Tiffine and a close friend, Jack, were there to witness the greatest storm of their lives. I can’t imagine what they were going thru, the tears, pain, suffering, disbelief and hopelessness. Their sails were tearing when this storm came upon them unexpectedly. This was a tempest that they would not want to happen but it came never the less. And as for me, I was without pain for the very first time in my life. Darkness engulfed me, as it were a soothing blanket, no pain, sorrow, trouble, worrys, I was at peace. There came crys’ of painful desperation as My wife, came into the room and declared that the Anchor Holds. The storm was raging and the sails were tearing apart but she knew that Jesus, as the Anchor, was Holding. She turned to the only one that could calm the storm, and with tears of helplessness, she spoke to The Lord God Almighty. Dear Lord, My Husband is dead and we need Him so much. If it be thy will Lord, give Him back to me, for His work on this earth isn’t done. Give Him Lord another chance to make a difference and to preach the Gospel. I need Him Lord, let him return to me. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen. I came alive and the pain fell on me, as a great millstone falling upon the surface of the waters. God took us both thru the tempest. Her fears were relieved and Her Sails were strengthened, as God wove the Fabric Himself. After Six months of rehabilitation, I was able to preach once again. These storms, that we all go thou, are storms of testing and storms of faith in the Creator. There are many storms and tempest in this life, Iraq, Iran, Islam, Murder, Theft, Wars and Rumors of Wars, Doubt, Confusion, Helplessness, and Mens hearts failing them for fear. We mention many false religions because they are storms within themselves, worshiping, dead men, animals, doctrines that were written by man, without the inspiration of God, which all have one thing in common, hatred of Christianity. These storms result in division of nations, wars of idealogical ideas and threats of violence upon the light givers of the world. These are all signs of the end days, when man is a lover of himself, more than lovers of God, and are lovers of darkness, more than lovers of light. When the sky is blue, we see only rainbows and pretty flowers, but as the unexpected tempest arises, we see doom and despair. Many, when the tempest arises, have no light to guide them, they run to and fro seeking answers, but none are found. The sails, are the fabric of the faith, that man has in God, even tho many do not believe and never will. These are the dark clouds that contain no water but are just for show. Our fabric must be repaired as each new storm arises. Satan trys’ to rip and tear at this fabric until the wind passes thru. The wind and sails together move the ship forward upon a set course that will eventually land the believer in the shores of Heaven. But if the sails remain torn and shredded, they stop the forward movement of the ship, bobbing aimlessly, with no direction and no destination. These rips and gashes are easily seen, The attacks of 911, Iraq, Afghanistan, corrupt government, Islam, Evolution, Storms, Hurricanes, Floods, Fires, and the entire Middle East situation, from Africa to Syria, its all interconnected, to bring about fear to multitudes, shaking the foundation of our spirits. Lets read Psa 107:25-30 For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits’ end. Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven. Barnes states of Psa 107:28 - Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble Sailors pray. If they do not pray elsewhere, they often do in a storm, when in danger of being wrecked and lost. A storm at sea brings hundreds on their knees who never prayed before - for they feel that their only help is in God, and that it is a fearful thing to die. Then they do right. They do what ought to be done. But they do then only what people ought always to do, for it is as plain a duty to pray when we are in safety as when we are in danger; when sailing on a smooth sea as in a storm; when on the land as on the ocean. People anywhere, and at any time may die; and people everywhere and at all times should, therefore, call upon God. Storms, tempests, fire, disease, and danger, only impel people to do what they should do always from higher motives, and when their motives will be likely to be more disinterested and pure. And thru all this the Anchor Holds. When we can do no more, we stand, stand with the anchor down, until the Storm Passes and is subdued. Can we pray for the Anchor to lead us, Guide us and deliver Us from these storms? Yes. The Anchor is always on the ship and is at the ready to aid in times of need. Ars. See Psa_107:6, Psa_107:13, Psa_107:19. Searching for the Perfect Car Loan

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Nicole_Soltau]Nicole Soltau Credit Unions have long been known as the place to go when you are in the market for a new or used car. Todays credit union pairs its long history of car financing with technological and bargaining tools that help consumers every step of the way. Of course, programs vary among credit union, but generally your credit union makes the old get out the paper and go through the ads routine a thing of the past. If you are in the market for a new or used car try your credit unions car locator service. Simply call your representative and give information about the car of your dreams (Kiplingers Buyers Guide to New Cars & Trucks provides extensive information and articles, and can help narrow your choices). Include such preferences as color, make, model, seat types (i.e. leather, cloth, vinyl), and let your credit union do the rest. Backed by the power of reputation and volume, your credit union negotiates the best prices with local dealers and sometimes even surrounding states. With a pre-approved car loan your credit union may even be able to arrange for delivery of your car to their location where you can close the deal and drive home. This convenient service eliminates the hassle, confusion and stress of approaching a local car dealer directly. If you would like a more hands on approach, many credit unions also offer an onsite database program, which allows you to conduct your own search. An added bonus, the database even has information about the price paid by the dealer for the car you are considering. This can be important information for negotiating the best price. Stop in to check out the database or other information sources such as bulletin board listings from other members and notebooks compiled by staff. For additional options, combine credit union services with the Internet. Check out sites such as Edmunds.com and Carprices.com to learn about retail prices or Autobytel.com and CarsDirect.com for haggle-free pricing and buying. No matter which options you choose your credit union can help you find the best deal at the best value. Inspecting a Car Dont depend on your eyes to tell you if the car of your dreams has experienced a nightmare or two. Without question, it is a sellers job to sell cars. Toward that end, dealers present cars to buyers in the best possible light. With enough elbow grease, some duds can be cleaned up to look nearly new. Dont be fooled. Your job as the buyer is to arm yourself with enough information to avoid buying a shiny new lemon. Before you decide on a car inspect it carefully to make sure the book is a good as its cover. Begin with the Internet. Using a service such as Carfax.com or Autocheck.com you can put together a history of the car in question. These services provide information about accurate odometer readings, titles, repaint jobs, accidents and so forth. You will need the Vehicle Identification Number (usually located in the windshield on the drivers side) to conduct your search. Dont limit your inspection to used or previously owned vehicles. New cars, too, should get a close look. For example: What information is available about the types of problems and/or repair issues that you can expect for this vehicle. Consider a mechanic. It wont hurt to have a mechanic give the car a once over. In fact, it can be a great help. Remember, buying a car is not like buying a blouse you cant take it back within 7 or 10 days for a full refund. Inspection should include major systems such as air conditioning, electrical, engine and brakes as well as smaller issues such as speaker sound and window seals. While it is true that these smaller issues wont necessarily impact performance, it is almost certain that they will impact satisfaction. Talk with others who own a car in the same make/model family. What have their experiences with the car been like? Would they buy again or recommend the same car? Finally, dont be afraid to really look at the car objectively. Yes, it can be disappointing after you have done the research and planning to find just the right car but ignoring any problems you find will not ease your pain. You may be able to overlook some problems, but at some point you must draw the line. To avoid this scenario have a back up plan, just in case. If you found the car on one lot, chances are you can find the same car in better shape on another. Fast Weight Loss Using Herbs And Spices

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

By Marie Gordon I wonder how much it is generally known that the benefits of using herbs and spices can speed up your weight loss efforts, by quite a considerable amount actually. We all know that herbs and spices are used with cooking to varying degrees, and of course the primary reason for doing so is to make food much more tasty and interesting. I suspect however that you might be surprised at the considerable health benefits that can also be gained by using them. In saying this I am referring to those everyday items that can be found in most larders, and not necessarily those exotic and probably not so well known varieties. I happened to discover the many benefits of herbs and spices and the fact that they can be most beneficial to a weight loss program, when I was doing extremely detailed research for my latest book. The results of that research were so extensive that it could be the basis in itself for a complete publication, and much more detailed therefore than I could possibly include in this short article. However I have been able to include a fair amount of information in this feature about various herbs and spices which are known to particularly help to speed up weight loss, and that is also in addition to their excellent overall health benefits by the way. You should find that you will be able to purchase these herbs from any good Herbalist supplier. Garcinia:(Garcinia cambogia) is a herb which is sold primarily for enhancing weight loss and boosting the amount of lean muscle. This is also known as hila or brindell berry. One of the major benfits of Garcinia is that it acts as an appetite suppressant and stops the body from storing fat. Pysillium:(Plantago spp.) This cheeky little herb has quite a few health benefits. Physillium is known to help lower cholesterol, and another major benefit is that it also helps to prevent constipation. If you use it as part of your weight loss program, it can help you to eat less calories and yet still feel really full. This is because of the amount of fiber that it contains. I mentioned earlier that it does help in preventing constipation, but in order to achieve this you should make sure that you drink plenty of water. Siberian Gingsing:(Eleutherococcus senticosus) If you are going to start regular exercise as part of your health and weight loss routine, which is normally to be highly recommended, then this is a really useful herb. It can help your body adapt to the stress of unaccustomed changes, and it will help to make you feel less tired even when you are doing simple exercises like walking for example. So in turn therefore you are more likely to stick to your exercise routine. Little Known Secrets In Your Larder Cayenne:(also known as Capsicum, hot pepper, chilli pepper, tabasco pepper). The majority of us have cayenne in our larders, and it is very commonly used in many food dishes. Cayenne can be found in many forms such as ground spices, teas, and would you believe it, topical creams. It is well known for its antitoxidant action, and greatly helps with osteoathritis and rhumatoid athritis, shingles, and diabetic neuropathy. A note of caution however: Cayenne may act with anticoagulant drugs so be sure to consult with your doctor. Excessive use may also irritate the intestinal tract. Manufactured topical capsacin creams can cause a burning sensation, so test first on a small area of the skin, remembering to wash hands thoroughly after applying the cream. This will avoid it spreading to the eyes nose or other sensitive areas. Fennel: is native to the Mediterranean and is widely utilized throughout the world. You will find it in teas, capsules, tinctures and lozenges. Fennel can be used to help with bloating, flatulence, mild digestive spasms, catarrh, and coughs. It also has antimicrobal, antispadmodic, and anti inflammatory properties. A note of caution here: Fennel can sometimes cause rare allergic skin and respiratory tract reactions. Fennel is also a potential source of synthetic oestrogens and should be avoided if you are pregnant. Garlic: you can buy this fresh, or the one you will most probably have in your larder will be dried. The downside of garlic is the odour which it leaves on your breath, but chewing some parsley after eating will soon sort out that problem. Garlic is also known to help stimulate the immune system, and to help in fighting cancer. Well documented health benefits include lowering cholesterol, fighting infections, and reducing blood pressure. Again a note of caution: garlic may also interact with anticoaglant drugs, so do be sure to check with your doctor if in any doubt. Rare cases of allergic reactions are known, and some people might possibly experience heartburn or even flatulence. These are just a few of the herbs you can use in cooking, but do remember that there are many many more, and the benefits in using them frequently can be quite remarkable. You will realize of course that when using them as part of any dish to use them sparingly, as to add too much would just spoil the meal. As with everything in life one should try and strike a balance, after all you know what they say “all things in moderation”.
